Lynchburg, VA (July 11, 2017) – Santa is arriving on Tuesday, July, 25 at Mister Goodies Ice Cream on Timberlake Rd in Lynchburg, VA to help raise funds for The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg. All monies donated in The Salvation Army Red Kettle on this evening will be matched up to $1,000 by Mister Goodies. In addition, Mister Goodies will be providing a free small ice cream cone or shaved ice to anyone who shows up wearing Christmas clothing.

"We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with businesses in our community like Mister Goodies," stated Captain Trey Jones. "The Lynchburg Salvation Army is focused on helping the homeless, hungry and needy in our community and events like this provide needed income during the summer months when donations are often reduced."

The community is invited to come out and enjoy the festivities beginning with Santa's arrival at 6:30pm and ending at approximately 9:30pm. WRVL The Journey will also be there with its prize wheel and to provide some holiday music favorites. Mister Goodies is a family owned business that has been serving the Lynchburg community for 14 years. This is the eighth year they have hosted the Christmas in July event.

The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg provides shelter, community feeding programs, disaster relief, family services and youth enrichment programs for Lynchburg, Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell and Nelson counties and has been part of the community for more than 115 years. If you would like more information about this event or how you can support or partner with The Salvation Army, please call 434-845-5939 or visit salvationarmylynchburg.org.
