Community Partnership to Provide a Special Thanksgiving Day Dinner for Lynchburg Residents

Lynchburg, VA (November 23, 2016) –The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg is partnering with Jacked Rabbit Food Truck and Evangafest of Moneta to provide a special Thanksgiving Day meal as part of the Salvation Army's community feeding program. On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, dinner will be served in front of the Salvation Army's Center of Hope building on Park Avenue from 4-6 pm to residents of the shelter and members of the community. "We are so appreciative of this partnership with Jacked Rabbit," stated Salvation Army Food Services Director Carol Kirby. "The residents and members of the community have been looking forward to this meal for some time."

Jacked Rabbit Food Truck specializes in vegan entrees with flair. Owner Loralee Walters has reached out to residents of the community to create a special menu for the day. "We have received a number of requests for our Jackfruit BBQ Sandwich," stated Walters. "We want it to be special for the community. This is the second year we have been able to provide a meal during the holiday season and are so thankful to be able to continue the tradition and expand it to include both Thanksgiving and Christmas." The Salvation Army's dining room will be open for those needing a warm place to eat and desserts will be served as part of the Thanksgiving meal.

The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg's community feeding program provides breakfast and dinner 365 days a year and is one of several community services provided by the Corp. The Lynchburg Salvation Army serves Lynchburg, Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell and Nelson counties and has been part of the community for more than 115 years.
