Lynchburg, VA (April 18, 2017) – On Wed., April 19, New Covenant Schools in Lynchburg will provide hundreds of volunteer hours of community service during its annual "Hands & Hearts" event to be held at The Salvation Army of Lynchburg along with other charities in the area. For the fifth consecutive year, hundreds of students, parents, faculty and staff, work together to teach through doing, and instill the value of serving even at the youngest age.

At The Salvation Army location, students will be organizing food and clothing donations, landscaping, cleaning the Center of Hope, and preparing items for daily meals. Other charities to be served by the school on this day include Lynchburg Grows, and Hat Creek Camp. "This is such an exciting day for us at The Salvation Army," stated Captain Donald Dohmann. "We love to partner with our community in a shared commitment to serve others and are so thankful for this collaboration with New Covenants School."

New Covenants School was founded in 1991 in the classical, Christian tradition. Unique in its approach among schools in Central Virginia, the school serves students in pre-school to the 12th grade with the finest classical, Christian program of study in the region. The school is fully accredited, and is affiliated with the Reformed Episcopal Church.
