The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg is currently taking applications for its one-week resident camp located two hours outside of Washington, D.C. in Richardsville, Virginia. Camp Happyland is a summer destination for more than 1,000 youth from communities served by The Salvation Army across Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. "We want to make sure children and their parents are aware of this amazing camp and all it has to offer," stated Lt. Kathy Paladino. "From sunrise to sunset, they'll learn more about themselves and God's creation, while meeting and interacting with youth their age."

This year's theme is "Camp Adventureland" and activities include: archery, arts & crafts, canoeing, challenge course, competitive team sports, bible study, Euro bungee, fishing, free play, human foosball, gaga ball, hiking, lake swing, music, orienteering, paddle boating, rock wall, and swimming. There is also a small nature center.  Camp begins the week of June 17 and ends the week of July 27.  Available scholarship opportunities includes the entire week of camp, as well as transportation to and from camp.

Camp registration is happening now. Please contact Lt. Kathy Paladino at 434-845-5939 for more information about camp and how to register a camper. Camp Happyland is accredited through the American Camping Association.
