Lynchburg, VA (Sept.,28.2020) – The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg will be hosting a drive-thru food distribution on Sat., Oct 3 from 10am to 2pm or until supplies are exhausted. The event will be held in the parking lot of The Salvation Army located at 2211 Park Avenue Lynchburg, VA.  "More and more families are experiencing food insecurity and their schedules during the work week limit them from seeking assistance," stated Major Caleb Prieto. "We wanted to provide a safe way to meet this need and on a day that worked with most family's schedules."

The Lynchburg Salvation Army will be providing each family with boxes that include chicken, eggs, and milk as well as hygiene kits, cleaning supplies and a family fun activity kit. They will also be providing each family with a box of non-perishable items such as canned goods and beans thanks to a collaboration with the Blue Ridge Food Bank.

Quantities are limited so families and individuals needing assistance are encouraged to arrive early at 10am. There are no ID or income requirements, but data regarding individuals in the household and city/county of residence will be collected. Vehicles will be directed to turn right into the parking lot from Park Ave. Signs will be set up providing additional instruction and volunteers will be on site to load items in the vehicles.
