The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg Thankful for Community Support Throughout 2020 Christmas Season

Lynchburg, VA (February 10, 2021) – The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg finished 2020 with its annual Red Kettle Campaign, which raised a total of $112,992.45. This total is around $42,000 short of the previous year's Red Kettle Campaign. "We anticipated a shortfall in funds raised this year due to the effects of COVID-19," stated Major Caleb Prieto. "Yet, we are extremely thankful for the way in which our community stepped up to support those who are hurting a little extra after this past year."
In addition to the Red Kettle Campaign, The Lynchburg Salvation Army also continued its traditional Angel Tree program, which provides Christmas gifts to children in need throughout the Greater Lynchburg community. Again, through the support of the community, the program was able to serve a total of 1358 individuals through the provision of toys, clothing, and gift cards, the majority of which were donated by the community.
"As we go into 2021 the need in our community continues to grow," stated Major Caleb Prieto. "Our community has always rallied around those in need, and we trust that the Lord will continue to provide the necessary resources moving forward to serve those in need throughout 2021."
